The UK FTSE 100 is slightly higher this morning after BP and HSBC both reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings today.
The US Federal Reserve begins a two day meeting today. Comments from Fed Chair, Jerome Powell, will be closely monitored tomorrow with investors looking for clues on the Fed’s inflation outlook.
More important earnings are due later as well with Microsoft and Alphabet reporting after market close.
