Stocks flat despite rising coronavirus concerns

UK and European stocks are flat this morning despite rising concerns about coronavirus. US stocks ended lower on Monday on worries over the slow pace of vaccine distribution.

England will enter another period of full lockdown. Boris Johnson said the weeks ahead “will be the hardest yet” and warned that the NHS could be overwhelmed. The UK experienced its largest ever daily increase in coronavirus cases on Monday. It is hoped that fast deployment of the Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca vaccines will achieve the government’s goal of vaccinating 13.9 million people at highest risk from the virus by the middle of next month.
