Markets subdued ahead of Fed meeting

Markets are subdued at the start of the week ahead of the US Federal Reserve two day meeting which begins today. Markets will focus on the interest rate forecasts and Chairman Jerome Powell's statement tomorrow.

Markets subdued ahead of Fed meeting

Markets are subdued ahead of the US Federal Reserve two-day meeting which begins today. Markets will focus on the interest rate forecasts and Chairman Jerome Powell’s statement tomorrow looking for clues regarding future policy.

Investors will also be monitoring US retail sales and industrial production numbers due today.

The Bank of England and Bank of Japan are holding policy meetings later this week.

Eleven European countries have temporarily suspended the Astrazeneca vaccination following reports of blood-clotting side effects in a few cases after its use. The World Health Organization (WHO) are meeting tody to review the situation.
