Market Review week ending 26th November 2021

Weekly Market View from Realm Investment Management. Week ending 26th November 2021.

Stock-markets were lower last week on concerns over a new Covid-19 variant. The decline on Friday was the worst this year as markets went risk-off on worries that new restrictions would curtail further economic recovery. In Europe worries over rising coronavirus cases were already weighing on sentiment even before news of the new variant spread.

Commodities were also lower over the week with oil falling more than 6% and surprisingly (with investors seeking safety) gold also declined.

Markets recovered a little at the start of this week as investors await more information regarding the omicron variant which has already spread to twelve countries. Moderna have said that a new vaccine could be ready by early next year.
