  • The U.K. Stockmarket was lower this week.
  • Market sentiment is dominated by Tuesday’s parliamentary vote on the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal.
  • Wall Street also weighed on sentiment this week with the U.S. unable to sustain a rally.
  • Our Breadth Indicator stayed negative this week and our Momentum indicator ticked lower again.

UK Market 7th December 2018

The U.S. Stock market

  • The U.S. stockmarket was lower this week.
  • The week started positively following the U.S./China meeting over the previous weekend when it was agreed that U.S. January tariff increases on Chinese imports would be suspended. Investor’s mood changed though as the statements from each country were later examined in more detail and conflicting signals were interpreted.
  • President Trump’s tweets didn’t help – he questioned if a “real deal” with China was possible.
  • Our Breadth indicator stayed negative and our Momentum indicator ticked lower again.
