The U.K. Stockmarket

  • The Brexit situation got even more fraught this week as the Prime Minister’s proposed EU withdrawal agreement was voted down for a third time. Theresa May may come back a fourth time but most agree it would have to be with a softer Brexit plan. Other options include calling a general election or pushing for a no-deal Brexit.
  • ECB President Mario Draghi promised that measures would be taken to tackle the rising risks to European economic growth.
  • Our Breadth indicator stayed positive and our Momentum indicator also stayed positive this week.

UK Market 29th March 2019

The U.S. Stock market

  • The U.S. stock market was higher this week.
  • Monday started down from the previous week with investors focused on concerns over growth and weakening U.S. housing starts (often a leading indicator).
  • However the market picked up from there and ended the week on a strong note with positive indications re the U.S./China trade talks.
  • Our Breadth indicator stayed positive and our Momentum indicator also stayed positive this week.
