The U.K. Stockmarket

  • The U.K. Stockmarket was lower this week.
  • The UK and the EU reached a deal this week but Theresa May will still need to get parliamentary approval.
  • US Dollar strength continued to exert pressure on commodities prices, and the heavy fall in the price of oil has weighed on oil stocks in the FTSE100.
  • Our Breadth Indicator stayed negative this week and our Momentum indicator ticked lower again.

The U.S. Stock market

  • The U.S. Stockmarket was lower this week. Technology was the worst performing sector with Utilities the best.
  • US/China trade war concerns were again a focus for investors as hopes for progress in the upcoming talks between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the end of the month seemed to fade a little.
  • Economic data disappointed and the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index for November fell a bit more than anticipated.
  • Our Breadth indicator stayed negative and our Momentum indicator ticked lower again.
