US election has markets on edge

The US presidential election is close and leaves investors on edge. Donald Trump claimed victory – “we’ll be going to the U.S. Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop.”

Meanwhile in the UK, MPs are voting today on England’s new lockdown measures with Boris Johnson hoping to push the new rules through despite rebels in his own party.

On Tuesday, European stocks closed higher as investors braced for the US presidential election. Growth-sensitive cyclical sectors including energy, miners, and banks were among the best performers. Meanwhile, traders continue to monitor coronavirus developments, with several countries across the region tightening restrictions amid surging infections. US stocks also moved higher on Tuesday adding to the gains posted in the previous session.
