Stocks open higher with focus still on Brexit

UK and European stocks are up this morning with US SP500 index futures reaching a new high.

Boris Johnson will meet head of EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels later today to try and break the deadlock in the post-Brexit talks.

On Tuesday the UK became the first western nation to begin rolling out the Covid-19 vaccine.

Wall Street was lifted by reports that the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine had received positive feedback from the US Food & Drug Administration and news that US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had presented a new stimulus proposal to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
