Stocks markets in the UK and Europe are muted this morning with investors cautious ahead of some major second-quarter earnings reports due today in the US, including Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.

Key US inflation data is also due, the general forecast is for the CPI number to be unchanged but any upside surprise could have investors worried the Federal Reserve might need to cut back its current stimulus program. Fed Chairman, Jerome Powell is due to update Congress on monetary policy this week.

Data from China showed exports rose sharply compared to a year earlier, much higher than forecasted. Asian markets were higher on Tuesday.
