Stocks muted after strong Monday

UK and European markets put in a strong performance on Monday particularly the UK FTSE 100, helped by another surge in commodity prices and despite a strong move higher in the Pound.

The positive market mood over the last few days has been fuelled by rising optimism over economic recovery and vaccine rollout programs and hopes that the promised US stimulus package will be forthcoming soon.

The UK government is putting together a plan for a cautious lifting of restrictions. “We want this lockdown to be the last” said Borois Johnson on Monday. It is hoped that schools will begin re-opening on 8th March.
