Stocks higher at start of week – PMIs due

Data from IHS Markit this morning shows that UK private sector growth was the weakest since March as shortages of staff and materials hinder recovery in July.

UK and European stocks are higher this morning following a rise in Asian markets where concerns appear to have eased over China’s recent regulatory crackdown.

In Europe, major companies reporting earnings include AXA, Heineken and HSBC. Final PMI (purchasing managers’ index) data are also due data for the UK and Eurozone.
