Markets in UK and Europe are flat to slightly lower this morning ahead of European and UK PMI data.

On Thursday European markets were higher after the European Central Bank kept interest rates and purchase program unchanged. In a statement the ECB said “the Governing Council decided to reconfirm its very accommodative monetary policy stance”.

US stocks sold off in the afternoon on reports that President Joe Biden was planning to double the rate of capital gains tax for wealthy individuals to fund social spending in his American Families Plan.
