UK and European stocks are trading cautiously this morning as investors wait for the conclusion of the two-day Fed meeting. The expectation is for interest rates to remain unchanged. The announcement will come at 6pm UK with comments from Fed chairman Jerome Powell a little later.
Recent data has provided evidence that the US economy is turning around and may be reflected in the economic forecasts from the Fed today. Powell’s comments could therefore provide clues regarding the future path for rates, so will be monitored closely.
The Bank of England will be meeting on Thursday as is the Bank of Japan.
