Markets cautious this morning as inflation concerns increase

Following weaker-than-expected US jobs data on Friday, US Treasury yields have hit multi-month highs on expectations that central banks will begin policy tightening soon.

Inflation concerns are the main focus at the start of the week with crude oil futures hitting their highest level since 2014 and a warning from Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey that there will be a “very damaging” period of inflation unless policymakers take action.

Third-quarter earnings season kicks off this week with major US banks reporting.
